Orthogonal and projected orthogonal matched filter detection

چکیده
This paper considers the generic problem of detecting in the presence of additive noise, which one from a set of known signals has been received. In place of the classical matched #lter (MF) receiver we propose a modi#ed receiver. When the transmitted signals are linearly independent this receiver is referred to as an orthogonal matched #lter (OMF) receiver, and when the transmitted signals are linearly dependent it is referred to as a projected orthogonal matched #lter (POMF) receiver. Two equivalent representations of the receiver are developed with di<erent implications in terms of implementation. In the #rst, the demodulator consists of a MF demodulator followed by an optimal whitening transformation on a space formed by the transmitted signals, that optimally decorrelates the MF outputs prior to detection. In the second, the demodulator consists of a bank of correlators with correlating signals that are projections of a set of orthogonal signals, and are closest in a least-squares sense to the transmitted signals. We provide simulation results that suggest that in certain cases the OMF and POMF receivers can signi#cantly increase the probability of correct detection over the MF receiver in non-Gaussian noise with only a minor impact on performance in Gaussian noise. ? 2003 Elsevier B.V. Orthogonal matched filter detection
In this paper we consider the generic problem of detecting a transmitted signal when one of M known signals is transmitted. Instead of using a classical matched filter (MF) detector, matched to the transmitted signals, we propose using an orthogonal matched filter (OMF) detector, which is matched to a set of orthogonal signals that are closest in a least-squares sense to the transmitted signals...
متن کاملDesign of IIR Digital Filter using Modified Chaotic Orthogonal Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (RESEARCH NOTE)
There are two types of digital filters including Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and Finite Impulse Response (FIR). IIR filters attract more attention as they can decrease the filter order significantly compared to FIR filters. Owing to multi-modal error surface, simple powerful optimization techniques should be utilized in designing IIR digital filters to avoid local minimum. Imperialist compe...
متن کاملDetection of Orthogonal Sine and Cosine Pulses by Linear Active Rc-networks
An active RC matched filter, particularly useful for phase-coherent, coded or uncoded, binary or non-binary communication channels, is described. One detector circuit performs the equivalent of two simultaneous cross-correlations, avoiding the need for electronic multipliers, reference wave generation and phase synchronization. For example, only I circuits are needed in a receiver that is requi...
متن کاملA Projected Alternating Least square Approach for Computation of Nonnegative Matrix Factorization
Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is a common method in data mining that have been used in different applications as a dimension reduction, classification or clustering method. Methods in alternating least square (ALS) approach usually used to solve this non-convex minimization problem. At each step of ALS algorithms two convex least square problems should be solved, which causes high com...
متن کاملMulti-user Detection
In a CDMA system, many users simultaneously transmit across the entire frequency band and users’ data is separated on the basis of their signature waveforms. It is logical that the user signature waveforms be mutually orthogonal so as to avoid interference among different users. In this article, we briefly touch upon the reason for non-orthogonal signature waveforms being deployed in CDMA based...
